Reid's Lake Campground
Reid's Lake camp ground is a campground located in Renfrew, Ontario.
The campground was sold to a new owner in the late summer of 2011. The new owner required a a number of content changes (new rates), listings of new improvements etc.
The existing website was a combination of legacy pages with Javascript libraries.
Certain content, menus, links and formatting worked differently between pages.
The rates page was particularly long scroll... scroll... scroll and the individual rates were separated from the column headings.
Due to the underlying fragile framework, changes were non-trivial.
We proceeded with a two-pronged approach.
The first was to fix cross-browser display issues and update the more urgent content before the campground closed for the season.
The second prong was to rebuild the site using HTML5, CSS, and a standardized cleaner template.
We worked with the client to standardize a look & feel based on Web Accessibility guidelines and a review of competitive sites.
The site uses the Twitter Bootstrap framework.
A proven framework, offering cross-browser compatibility for tables, tabs, menus, alerts, tooltips.
We then integrated the BX Slider for cross-browser slider support.
The contact page has validation built-in and on the server-side has certain anti-spam protection. The media galleries and sliders are dynamically built using a server-side script (PHP).
Maintenance of the front-page slider and image gallery requires that new files be uploaded to specific sub folders of the images folder (welcome, about, cottage, cabin) on the web server.
All configuration is handled by server-side scripts that dynamically create the galleries.
Updating a gallery or slider requires uploading of a new image.
Since the gallery is dynamically created the website is up to date within seconds.
